4th December 2009Calor's Paul Blacklock praised the village for being "such a wonderful community" when he presented a metal plaque and two framed certificates to commemorate Goring's victory in the 2009 village of the year competition.

22nd October 2009Goring has been named village of the year in the south-east region of England for 2009. The announcement was made on 20 October 2009 in the competition sponsored by LPG supplier, Calor.
